If a genre is considered notable, but only has 10 or so artists, doesn't it stand to reason that the notability of those artists should be gauged proportional to the size of the genre rather than in comparison to artists of large genres… You don't apply essays, you apply guidelines (or guidance). Saying "applying this essay" would be like "apply this book". You don't apply a book, you apply the guidelines/guidance contained in the book. Notability doesn't require any citations. It definitely doesn't require properly formatted citations, e.g., listing WP:General references under a proper section heading rather than under ==External links==. The requirement is only that…
